UX and Product design is one of the growing professions now. LinkedIn ranked the UX program as one of the top 5 skills of 2020. That resulted in many educators creating online programs for UX designers. For designers from mid-level to executives, it can be confusing which program to select and why it's best for them. So I decided to write this blog. After reviewing 29 online programs ( no university programs were reviewed ). Here are 4 insights I came up with and four questions you need to ask yourself before getting into a program.

😊Four Insights

  1. More than 60% of programs ( 17 out of 29) were focused on Introduction or getting started in UX design.
  2. Less than 30% of programs ( 8-9 out of 29) were focused on overall development. Softskills, hard skills, mindset, career, etc.
  3. Program cost ranged from $10 to $10,000. While most were for $1000.
  4. The duration of the program ranged from 3 months to 10 months.

😎Four Questions

Asking these four questions can help you narrow down your search

  1. Where am I in my career journey?

Starting? Mid-level? You are a manager or an executive?

2.What's my financial bandwidth to pay for the program?

Quick Tip: If you are investing a lot of money, get the syllabus reviewed by a trusted mentor.

3.What time I can commit weekly to the program?4.Does the curriculum and program promises align with your career goals?
